The sCrypt BSV Hackathon, co-hosted by Keyi Tech (BSV Association’s APAC Hub), Fudan Blockchain Association, and Fudan MBA Blockchain Club, was successfully held on August 13, 2023 at Fudan University.
The event combined theory and hands-on practice to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the BSV blockchain and sCrypt technology, along with real programming experience. During the first half of the event, Dr. Liu Xiaohui, the founder and CEO of sCrypt, introduced:
- UTXO based smart contracts
- Competitive advantages of BSV blockchain over other blockchains
- The exceptional performance of sCrypt
- How to write sCrypt contracts, basic syntax, and stateful contracts
The second half of the event focused on practical exercises, with sCrypt technical experts Aaron Zhou and Zheng Hongfeng, providing hands-on instruction. Participants were guided through three practical projects:
- Using ‘hello world’ as an example, demonstrating contract compilation, testing, deployment, and invocation
- Implementing data on-chain using sCrypt technology
- Voting development
The event featured lively interaction between guests and participants. Liu Siyuan, Vice President of Fudan Blockchain Association, said, ‘This development activity provided students with excellent practical opportunities. The instructors’ clear teaching and meticulous guidance made it easy for students from various development backgrounds to create their first dApp on the BSV blockchain. Thanks to Keyi Tech and the sCrypt team for leading everyone back to the essence of blockchain technology.’
Yang Jinlong, President of Fudan MBA Blockchain Club, expressed high praise for the event, emphasising, ‘In this Hackathon, we immersed ourselves not only in theoretical exploration but also actively participated in the entire process of putting data on-chain. This was an incredibly inspiring development experience. The results of this Hackathon are fruitful, as we gained a deep understanding of and hands-on experience with blockchain technology. This has significantly enhanced the practical abilities of our club members and strengthened our determination to promote the application of blockchain in the business field.’
Dr. Liu Xiaohui, founder and CEO of sCrypt, expressed his expectations and aspirations for the future at the end of the event. He mentioned, ‘In June, our sCrypt team successfully held a one-week Hackathon at the University of Exeter in the UK. We are honoured to once again enter a top-tier university to conduct a Hackathon. During the event at Fudan University, we felt the enthusiasm of the students, which greatly encouraged us. We look forward to more students from top universities both domestically and internationally understanding and utilising sCrypt technology, and being able to build their innovative applications on the BSV blockchain.
