How can the adoption of blockchain technology be broadened in markets such as Japan? Masumi Hamahira, Executive Vice President at nChain and the BSV Blockchain Ambassador to Japan says the key lies in engaging with stakeholders and institutions to expand the BSV blockchain ecosystem throughout Japan, and even into Silicon Valley.
In September 2023, two workshops were held in Tokyo, featuring presentations and discussions by representatives from nChain, BSV Blockchain Association, BitTrade exchange, and local BSV blockchain projects such as YenPoint, Frobots, Blarecast, and Chainbow (NoteSV).
The events also saw participation from institutions like Keio University and Deloitte, among others. The overarching objective was to explore avenues for advancing the blockchain technology revolution in the country, said BSV Blockchain’s Head of Community Brett Banfe.
Two workshops – All BSV blockchain
The inaugural workshop, an all-day bilingual event, provided a platform for representatives from the BSV Blockchain ecosystem to elucidate technical concepts and showcase use cases of the BSV blockchain to an audience already familiar with blockchain technology.
The workshop featured presentations from various experts, including Keio University FinTEK Centre Director Dr. Teruo Nakatsuma, BSV Blockchain Director Thomas Giacomo, and representatives from Frobots, YenPoint, Chainbow, Blarecast, and others.
The second workshop, a shorter and more focused event in Tokyo’s Akasaka, centred on stablecoins and related issues. Attended by Stanford University alumni participating in the 2023 Stanford Lead Innovation Tour in Tokyo, the session included presentations on Keio University FinTEK Centre and BSV blockchain technology. The event aimed to foster collaboration and explore opportunities for stablecoin projects, with YenPoint providing insights into the global stablecoin market.
Growing BSV blockchain in Japan and around the world
The workshop series highlights BSV blockchain’s continued expansion in Japan. However, it also coincides with BSV Blockchain’s technological and regulatory plans. BSV Blockchain leads several enterprise and government initiatives around the world. This Switzerland-based global non-profit industry organisation supports the use of the BSV blockchain.
The BSV Blockchain also oversees the creation of technical standards and educates enterprises, government agencies, start-up ventures, developers, and users on creating a global blockchain ecosystem. The original Bitcoin protocol and its scripting language provide powerful technical capabilities that BSV has restored.
