Blockchain 4 Gaming in Warsaw – a stage for the BSV Blockchain’s innovative potential in the Gaming Industry

Blockchain 4 Gaming in Warsaw – a stage for the BSV Blockchain’s innovative potential in the Gaming Industry

Blockchain potential in gaming industry

The Blockchain 4 Gaming Event in Warsaw hosted by the BSV Blockchain Association on the 7th of June succeeded in showcasing the utility of the BSV blockchain in the industries of Gaming, Entertainment and adjacent sectors. The event attracted altogether 200 attendees, many of which were game or application developers, CTOs or entrepreneurs from the Gaming or Entertainment sectors.

The event took place in the ESPORT SPOT in Warsaw, which was well adapted for the occasion and provided the right atmosphere for the event – especially for the after-event, a Bitcoin SV meetup along with the Bitcade, which was organised by CoinGeek. The Bitcade is a practical opportunity to play some of the games that were presented during the day’s program.

How the BSV Blockchain unlocks new possibilities in the Gaming Industry

Marcin Zarakowski, Chief of Staff and Legal Counselor of the BSV Blockchain Association, opened the event with a talk about the fundamentals of blockchain with specific reference to the BSV blockchain. Zarakowski summed up its utility, its innovative potential and how this relates to the most recent trends in the gaming industry regarding the Metaverse, play-to-earn and NFT-based games. Key takeaways from Zarakowski’s presentation about the BSV blockchain were that it offers:

Throughout the day, the speakers stressed different aspects of the BSV blockchain as essential for their own businesses.

Handcash – the gateway for blockchain games and the Metaverse

Rafa Jiménez, CTO of HandCash, took to the stage to represent his company and their product, the HandCash wallet. Currently, the infrastructure of the so-called ‘crypto space’ suffers from many points of friction impeding user adoption. HandCash has addressed these issues by realising the vision of Bitcoin as digital cash. Today, the HandCash wallet convinces as a simple yet versatile gateway for BSV and the NFT-economy connected to it. Jiménez also presented HandCash Connect, a developer SDK that allows developers to easily integrate Handcash’s wallet and services into their games and applications.

Haste Arcade – Instant Leaderboard Payouts and the Play-and-Earn model

Keith La Force, Technical Co-Founder of Haste Arcade, presented the mission of his company to re-invent and translate the concept of Arcades into today’s time. For Haste Arcade, games should primarily be fun and competitive. La Force, therefore, dismisses the Play-to-Earn model as a concept that misses the point. Instead, Haste Arcade focusses on creating Play-and-Earn games. With their new and unique Instant Leaderboard Payouts (ILP), Haste Arcade has combined competition and fun with the opportunity to earn money on the side.

While a free mode is available, Haste Arcade offers different modes, in which players can participate for a fee. The fees range from $0.01 to $100. Haste Arcade is against the idea of developing so-called “crypto games”, instead they want to create entirely new gaming experiences using blockchain.

Piotr Zielonka, Senior Equity Research Analyst at Santander Bank Poland, held his presentation about the latest trends in the Gaming industry in Polish. Zielonka’s presentation stood out, as his talk focused on the topic from the point of view of institutional investment. For entrepreneurs and game developers, this presentation delivered valuable insights into what institutional investors currently look for when they invest in games. Crucially, Zielonka did not only have praise for recent developments, but he also focused on problems, unsustainable development and mere hypes in the industry.

POWChess – Bringing an ancient game into the 21st century

POWChess’s presentation offered another highlight to the agenda. After presenting the platform, its design and the user-experience, the Co-Founders of POWChess, Gal Buki and Alexei Torgashov challenged the audience to a game of blitz chess in which one audience member had the opportunity to win $200 in POWChess’s stake mode. Blitz chess is a version of chess that has a time limit of one minute and requires fast-thinking and pattern recognition.

POWChess’s native donation mode functions very similarly to blitz ches, in that it allows players to challenge much higher-rated or famous players for a donation. This way, POWChess incentivises International and Grand Masters to join their platform. Another much awaited feature is POWChess’s Arena which allows creating tournaments with up to 1000 players. The prize pool is split between the top 500 participants.

Soundoshi – how revenue streams solve the music streaming industry’s pain points

The last presentation was held by Soundoshi’s Founder, Michał Scisłowski. Soundoshi is a blockchain-based music streaming platform in an oversaturated industry. However, as music streaming is build almost entirely on Web2-infrastructure, it suffers from several pain-points, which Scisłowski showcased. One of the major issues is that there are currently only big artists, or rather their publishers, that profit from the current streaming system. Lesser known artists, even if they reach several hundred thousands of streams, can barely live off of their revenue, which is on some platforms paid out in a 12 to 15 months time frame.

Soundoshi has solved the issue by providing what they call ‘revenue streams’. These rely on on-chain data storage and microtransactions made possible by the BSV blockchain. Through it’s a simple concept, it’s a ground-breaking solution, where much larger profit shares can be distributed to the artists rather than going to the platform itself or to publishers. Around this core business model of Soundoshi, the platform offers many more services for artists and their community. The selling of merchandise, direct fan communication and interaction and ticket functionalities are further features of Soundoshi that make it much more attractive for fans and music enjoyers.

Bitcade – Rounding off the evening with playing blockchain games

The event transitioned seamlessly into the Meetup that followed. As the meetup was a separate event hosted by the BSV Blockchain Association, the Bitcade attracted a slightly different crowd. While the daytime event was attended by those who build games, the evening programme also lured people whose sole interest was to play games. The Bitcade was organised by CoinGeek and consisted of Haste Arcade games, which participants could try out for free. The two lucrative prizes of $250 which was awarded to the top finishers on Haste Arcade’s leaderboards was a part of the attraction of the event.
