Champions of Otherworldly Magic mints 1 million cards on the BSV blockchain – as it prepares for a busy 2024

Miles Malec (Founder of Champions TCG) noted that the BSV Blockchain and Handcash provide the team with a unique competitive advantage to tackle some of the giants in the gaming industry.

The team at Champions of Otherworldly Magic recently minted a million digital cards on the BSV blockchain as part of its second edition release. Now the team is preparing for a busy 2024.

Speaking at the recent Unbounded Capital Summit in Austin, Miles Malec (Founder of Champions TCG) noted that the BSV blockchain and Handcash provide the team with a unique competitive advantage to tackle some of the giants in the gaming industry.

‘It also allows us to present unique value propositions to local game stores where we can set up digital storefronts where they can sell digital cards. We are then able to track not only the card packs they sell but also the cards inside which we can then pass on as individual royalties,’ he said.

Following the minting in September 2023, Malec said that he and his team have already sold 250,000 cards for around $0.35. ‘One of the big things with trading cards is that cards have to sell for $0.05 or $0.10 apiece. One of our main goals here is to be one of the cheapest NFTs in the world,’ he said.

Taking on the big players

Champions of Otherworldly Magic is an epic fantasy card game where you can collect and trade unique NFT cards featuring powerful creatures, spells, and artefacts from otherworldly realms.

Similar to other popular trading card games (such as Pokemon or Magic The Gathering), players place a card down onto the board that costs mana. These cards have a range of special abilities and features and the game aims to destroy your opponent and their cards to win the game.

While Pokemon and Magic The Gathering have long had physical versions, they have increasingly offered digital versions of their games in recent years amid massive demand. Other digital-only games such as Blizzard’s Hearthstone have also seen significant success in recent years. Champions of Otherworldly Magic plans to capitalise on this demand by offering a digital-only game which is available on the highly scalable BSV blockchain.

With a million cards on the BSV blockchain, Champions TCG holds the record as the largest NFT collection on any public blockchain. All this is only possible on the BSV blockchain, Malec said.

Champions TCG is actively engaging with retail gaming shops, aiming to integrate them into their platform. Shop owners experience a streamlined onboarding process without the need for upfront capital or inventory management. The company’s profit-sharing model prioritises clients and channels royalties back to them. Leveraging the low fees of the BSV blockchain, Champions TCG extends the cost-efficiency benefits to its clients.
