Combat IQ: Reinventing sports with AI and blockchain

Combat IQ is unique in that it analyses and develops odds for sports which typically didn’t have this kind of technology before.

Combat IQ is using revolutionary new technologies such as the BSV blockchain and Artificial Intelligence to take combat sports into a new era. It does this by using 3D computer models to generate real-time data for enhancing sports broadcasts, increasing fan engagement with sports promoters, and expanding sports betting operators’ ability to offer micro-betting markets.

‘The way Combat IQ marries AI and blockchain is through our ‘odds services’. We create the odds for individual sports and send them to betting companies. At the same time we publish those odds to the blockchain to create an immutable record for dispute resolution and conflict settlement,’ said Tim Malik, Founder and CEO of Combat IQ.

Malik noted that Combat IQ is unique in that it analyses and develops odds for sports which typically didn’t have this kind of technology before. ‘When it comes to combat sports, you can’t bet and play outside of the UFC. During a fight, you can’t bet on the match and there is no micro-betting. So we enabled that for combat sports outside of the UFC,’ said Malik.

A marriage of AI and blockchain

Combat IQ is powered by the proprietary ‘Combat Vision’ technology – a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence model that offers access to the most expansive and unique live sports data available, said Malik.

Trained on hundreds of thousands of hours of footage, motion capture data and key fight data, Combat Vision aims to lead the way in statistics, speed and accuracy for combat sports. This includes an over 99% reliability rate and a technology stack that will work seamlessly across multiple streams, wherever you are in the world

Malik said that Comaby IQ also employs blockchain technology to guarantee the security and trustworthiness of the data we collect and analyse. Each recorded punch, kick, or action is securely stored in an immutable manner, offering our partners unwavering assurance in the precision and authenticity of the information they receive from Combat IQ.

This means that blockchain is not used for monetary transactions, but as a robust instrument for safeguarding data integrity, bolstering the dependability of our AI-driven analytics, and ultimately elevating the value we provide to the sports industry.

Fundraising and looking forward

Malik noted that Combat IQ launched its odds betting service in May and is currently in the process of forming partnerships with more leagues and sports. This included a seed fundraising round in June which would allow Combat IQo to expand its in-house team of employees.

Malik joked that startup fundraising is a lot like speed dating in that it primarily comes down to being a numbers game.

‘You get a lot of no’s before you hear that one or two yes’es that that really will carry your round. We are really fortunate that we raised a pre-seed round in November that carried us to this point. And now, due to the immense progress we’ve made, we’re going back out there to really scale up our development and strengthen our team.’

‘I think a lot of that comes around selling the vision of what we’re building. I’ve gone and got some of the best PhDs from around Europe, I have poached guys from Apple and from universities themselves. And we’re really building a world-class team and I want investors to see that.’
