How BSV blockchain is bringing back the feeling of old-school game arcades

The power of BSV blockchain opens up new ways for developers to build and monetise their games.

The power of BSV blockchain opens up new ways for developers to build and monetise their games, and for gamers to play and enjoy them, says Keith La Force, Co-Founder of Haste Arcade.

Haste Arcade is a first-of-its-kind Instant Leaderboard Payout (ILP) gaming platform that leverages the BSV ecosystem. Instant payouts enable players globally to earn real-time, peer-to-peer rewards for simply placing on a game’s leaderboard. The system also benefits developers who can earn revenue on every transaction.

‘Imagine you’re in an arcade and you’re playing Pac-Man. Normally you’d play the game, get on the leaderboard based on your score, and that would kind of be the end of the story,’ said La Force.

‘HasteArcade takes that to the next level and creates a digital experience where folks can compete at a global level. And then once you’re on the leaderboard, you get paid based on how good you are.’

BSV blockchain micropayments are key to high quality game development

La Force noted that the ability to offer instantaneous payouts would not be possible without the BSV blockchain blockchain’s ability to handle micropayments without friction.

‘Micropayments enable a new economy where people can play these games for even fractions of a penny, which is not possible under the current fiat system. So we need blockchains like BSV to enable these micropayments, ‘ he said.

‘And every time you play a game in the highest arcade, that payment gets split. So if you play at our nano level, it’s one penny. That penny then gets split 100 ways to pay everyone on the leaderboard.’

This technology also enables Haste Arcade to mimic traditional physical arcades, bringing back feelings of competitiveness and camaraderie.

‘What was great about arcades was the ability to socialise with your friends and be competitive. We believe that HasteArcade can provide that same experience in a digital way to individuals so they can play the games and can compete with their friends.’

How building games on BSV blockchain benefits developers

La Force said the benefits of micropayments also extend to the developers of games, as they receive a small payment every time someone plays one of their games. ‘It doesn’t matter if they play one time or if they play 10,000 times – you still get a piece every single time.’

Developers also benefit in other ways from being on HasteArcade’s system, including authentication, security, and leaderboards.

‘When you think about integrating the system, there are a few components that come with it. It’s authentication – so we know who the user is and ultimately what wallet they’re using. We also handle leaderboard management – which includes tracking who has the best score. And then finally the payments themselves.

‘So developers can just focus on building a great experience for their players. And they don’t have to worry about all the infrastructure around payments and everything that comes along with that for their game.’

BSV blockchain is the best fit for Haste games

LaForce noted that the decision to build Haste Arcade on the BSV blockchain blockchain wasn’t an automatic choice, but a decision taken after extensive research and understanding of what other blockchains offer.

‘Ultimately we came to the same conclusion, which is that no other chain does what this chain is doing. It’s peer-to-peer. We don’t have to own any of the funds, which helps us from a regulatory standpoint. It’s simply the right tool for the job and it does everything that we need it to do.’
