The BSV blockchain is set to revolutionise the gaming space, allowing developers to build out entire ecosystems for gamers, says Michał Dąbrowski, Chief Executive Officer of Elympics.
Elympics offers a secure development platform so that developers can eliminate many of the risks associated with developing play-to-earn games. Dąbrowski added that the transparency of blockchain technology can make behaviour like cheating much easier to detect.
‘We started over three years ago with this platform, initially trying to democratise multiplayer (games) and e-sports. In this time we’ve realised that blockchain games face the same kind of challenges as e-sport games, especially concerning security aspects and the ease of creation for developers – which is important to democratise the process for indie game developers.’
Dąbrowski said this focus on democratisation and transparency in the gaming sphere aligns with the values offered on the BSV blockchain.
‘So we’ve created this set of tools, a whole ecosystem that is aimed at bringing in developers that only know how to create traditional games.’
An entire eSports ecosystem on BSV blockchain
Dąbrowski said this ecosystem will allow developers to create a multiplayer game that offers full blockchain integration.
‘So you can take your gameplay and bring it to our platform, make a secure competitive multiplayer experience out of it, integrate it with smart contracts, and integrate the blockchain without any hassle of creating your own tokenomics.’
This means developers can focus on making games fun to play first and foremost, and building out the blockchain structures later, he said.
Dąbrowski said that developers can learn about these tools by participating in ‘game jams’, which are essentially 72-hour hackathons. These game jams allow developers to test the tools with the ultimate goal of creating a functioning game at the end of the three days.
‘We bring developers that don’t know anything about blockchain technologies and we guide them through the whole process. In 72 hours, you can create a secure multiplayer game that is blockchain connected with our essential smart contracts, just knowing how to create simple games in Unity.’
Blockchain brings new possibilities to eSports
Dąbrowski noted that game developers as a group are typically reserved and taken aback by the idea of integrating blockchain technologies. However, he noted that the technology opens new possibilities and should be used as a tool by developers to improve their games.
‘That’s what free-to-play game designers have been doing for the past several years. Designing economies that make sense and that actually monetise.’
‘I believe that utilising blockchain is the way to go for the future because it brings many benefits for both players and especially players because they’re going to choose the games that they spend their time in.’
