BSV Blockchain in partnership with sCrypt, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the sCrypt hackathon 2024. The hackathon will take place virtually from March 16 to 17, 2024 with $5,000 prizes up for grabs!
Join us for an exciting hackathon where we’re unleashing the power of Ordinals support in the sCrypt development platform. Now equipped with Bitcoin smart contracts and Bitcoin tokens, developers have the tools necessary to create groundbreaking applications that were previously unimaginable.
Think trustless exchanges, atomic swaps, and the tokenisation of financial instruments. Our hackathon theme revolves around merging sCrypt (Bitcoin smart contracts) with Ordinals (Bitcoin tokens) to pioneer innovative solutions in the blockchain space.
Requirements
Upon completion of your Hackathon project, applicants will be required to submit the following deliverables:
- Your code submission using a GitHub repository named after your team.
- Ensure that all code is contained within a single Git repository. If external resources are necessary, include an install/setup script.
- Supporting documentation may consist of photographs of whiteboards, diagrams, written notes, a brief business case, or any other relevant materials.
- A five-minute (or shorter) video summarising your entry, such as a screencast demonstrating your product and providing a brief introduction to your team, vision, goals, and business proposition.
Judges have limited time to review numerous entries, so ensure your submission materials are clear and concise. It may be challenging for judges to set up your application, especially if it has undocumented dependencies. To facilitate this process, consider dockerising your application.
If you opt not to host your application/service(s), provide documentation for running it locally using Docker. A Dockerfile in the repository or hosted publicly on Docker Hub is acceptable for a single image, while a docker-compose in the repository is acceptable for multiple images. You can learn more about Docker here.
Who can enter?
The hackathon is open to all developers over the legal age of majority in all regions, excluding standard exceptions. We invite people meeting the following criteria to consider signing up:
- Developers who are already coding on the BSV blockchain;
- Developers who are coding on a different blockchain;
- Non-blockchain developers who have a keen interest in BSV.
However, the hackathon is best suited for people looking to challenge themselves and use their skills towards a new application with the potential to grow and become a business case.
