State-of-the-art sports platform Zetly has announced a new pilot programme which will see it offering a turnkey metaverse solution to sports teams around the world.
Zetly is trying to solve the problem of funding for sports clubs and groups, with many of them losing sponsorship deals during the pandemic. It hopes digital assets such as NFTs will provide new revenue streams and ways to fundraise.
The pilot programme will initially be offered to select football teams in Poland, with plans to expand the offering to additional sports and teams in the coming months. Zetly CEO Michael Glijer said the pilot will feature a full sports metaverse offering. This will include scanning the arena, building fan engagement opportunities, introducing new pay-to-earn games and offering NFT digital collections.
Glijer said the goal is to have customers receive an NFT when they buy a shirt, scarf or other pieces of memorabilia from their favourite sports team. At the same time, this NFT can then be used in the metaverse and interacted with online. He added that this pilot programme will be free with the funds instead raised through the sale of the tokens and various NFTs on sale.
Zetly is partnering with several other companies to make this programme possible.
Transmira is spearheading the development of the Metaverse, in which the reality of the physical world meets the infinite space of digital gaming. Transmira’s Omniscape platform brings a real-world location to life, allowing businesses to engage with consumers by combining Augmented Reality (AR) with Virtual Reality (VR) in the exciting new XR environment.
PowChess will use its knowledge of the blockchain to develop several casual minigames for the platform. They will be joined by Haste Arcade who are also designing games and other engagement tools for fans in the metaverse for when their team is not playing.
Glijer said that the shift towards blockchain and the new platform will not be instantaneous and will require both a strong strategy and a willingness to learn from both clubs and fans. He added that this was not a once-off project but rather a broader sea change that will occur over the coming years.
‘This programme is unique because it contains almost everything that will be needed for a sports club on the Web3 ecosystem and the fun thing is that it costs nothing. We aim to create a kind of snowball effect from these sports brands, together with our partners, and with the BSV Blockchain support. This is a win-win for us.’
